The English west country seaside city of Plymouth is the latest place to bring a slice of Dubai influenced design to its skyline.
Architect firm Burke Rickards is working on a project for 150 flats – including a building shaped like a ship’s sail.
The three apartment blocks were given planning permission by the local authority in March according to media in the county of Devon, who have dubbed the project “Dubai style”.
Architect Steve Rickhards said: “The curved spars that have been the characteristic that people have picked up on are actually functional as well. They support the balconies that go round the building.”
The centrepiece of the development will be an 11 storey apartment block on a pier in the marina.
