Dubai to get world’s first fully air-conditioned sports arena

The world’s first fully air-conditioned sports stadium is set to be built in Dubai, at a cost of around $820 million.

Designed by Perkins + Will the arena will have a seating capacity of 60,000, Dubai’s Media office announced on Twitter.

The stadium’s design which comply with FIFA’s standards, and will be named after Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid al-Maktoum, who reviewed the design.

Other facilities will include a training hall, a car park with 5,000 spaces, a sports museum and conference halls.

The Tweet read: “@HHShkMohd reviews the design of the AED 3 billion “Mohammed bin Rashid Stadium” with 60,000 seat capacity #Dubai.”

Vice-chairman of the Dubai Sports Council ice-chairman of the Dubai Sports Council Mattar Al Tayer said: “Out of the  international companies working in the field of sports buildings design worldwide, Perkins + Will, the global engineering and architectural consultant, has been chosen to execute the mega stadium which takes in more than 60,000 spectators, 8,941 seats for VIP’s terraces and 6,688 seats for the below terraces.”
