The partition of Dubai’s Al Safa Park has been completed, and is paving way for the Dh7.3bn Dubai Water Canal project.
An official at Al Safa Park stated that a major portion of the park will be replaced by the Dubai Canal but has no information as of when the work will actually start.
The park, created in 1975, covers 64 hectares and contains three lakes, and over 16,924 various trees and bushes.
The new canal project will include a shopping centre, four hotels and 450 restaurants as well as luxury housing and cycling paths.
Expected to offer 80,000m2 of new space, the project will include public places and facilties, as well as private marinas for boats and a new trade centre at the opening of the canal.
