The Artists-in-Residency (AiR) programme will open submissions for UAE-based artists starting this August 21.
AiR is a yearly collaboration between art organisations Art Dubai, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, Delfina Foundation and Tashkeel.
Four applicants will be chosen to work alongside two international artists and an international curator to produce work for Art Dubai projects.
The artists will be provided with studio space, mentorship, workshops, and outreach events.
“The annual Artist-in-Residence programme has set new benchmarks in driving intercultural artistic exchange, one of the priorities of Dubai Culture,” Khalil Abdulwahid, manager of Visual Arts at the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.
“We are taking [the program] to the next level through a structured and updated programme that enables the participants to experience Dubai’s artistic diversity fully, interact with the artist community, access materials effortlessly and derive inspiration from the city’s cultural identity,” he said.
London-based curator and writer Yasmina Reggad will lead the programmes’ commissions, help with the selection of the artists, and work closely with the artists to produce their works.
