Dubai’s new library furnished with classic Aalto chairs

The Archive, Dubai’s newest contemporary library, has been furnished with the classic ‘Chair 69’, designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935.

The chairs are from the Artek 2nd Cycle collection and built with legs and backs made from Finnish natural birch.

It also features a famous L-leg structure, which enables the legs to be attached directly to the seat.

The seat base and the backrest are wider than equivalent chairs and are said provide superior stability.

For the second past five years Artek has collected old products from public institutions, schools, universities and even flea markets, giving them a fresh context and a new lease of life.

Located in Safa Park, The Archive library is dedicated to Middle Eastern and North African art literature, and provides a platform to promote a diverse and active cultural community.
