The Beach development will “change the character of Dubai,” says architect

New to Dubai is The Beach, opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence, a low rise entertainment, leisure and retail development, along a 1km stretch between the Hilton and Sheraton hotels on the shoreline.

It is directly opposite from large residential towers – and is aimed at giving the people who live in them a focal point for leisure and recreation.

It includes a 10 screen cinema, outdoor play areas, water fountains and stores as well as cafes and restaurants.

The development is low rise in order to avoid blocking out sea views from nearby residential properties and sea  breezes act as a natural cooling system as they are funneled through the buildings.

Paul Priest, of architects Benoy, said: “This development will change the character of Dubai.”
