Dubai’s Emaar Properties has reportedly appointed Dutco Group to carry out restoration work for Atkins-designed The Address Downtown which caught fire on New Year’s Eve.
Dutco, which is currently working on the nearby expansion of The Dubai Mall, is already on the hotel’s site, and is expected to reopen the hotel “in record time”.
According to Arabian Business, a clean-up operation is underway on site, as is a mechanical, electrical, and structural assessment of the building prior to restoration operations.
The report added Emaar is coordinating with government entities such asDubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Municipality and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, among others, to speed up work on the hotel, which caught fire on New Year’s Eve.
Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties, said: “We are committed to expediting the reopening of the hotel in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
“We are demonstrating the can-do ability of Dubai with our focus on opening the hotel in record time using the best in design, quality and technology.
“The Address Downtown Dubai is our first hotel project and it has set international benchmarks with its excellent hospitality standards.”
Details of the work including the timelines and plans will be revealed in due course, the report added.
