Interior design and architecture professionals who love golf and want to socialise with members of their industry have found an outlet with FIGS – the Furniture & Interiors Golf Society.
The inaugural match for the society was in September 2010, where the society saw 12 players attend. For its one-year anniversary match this year, the number of players increased to 22.
Nick Burnett, associate design director, arki group design, is one of the co-founders who said he seeks sponsorship for each event whenever possible and tries to promote the group within the furniture and interiors industry.
“I love golf and I love my work. The idea was that if you are an architect, interior designer, project manager, MEP consultant or contractor, that is, anybody involved within furniture and interiors, you can get out on the golf course, relax and play some sport,” said Burnett.
FIGS tees off at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa, where the group meets up every quarter.
The next event scheduled for December 15, 2011 and FIGS has secured sponsorship for the next event from UAE-based firms myOffice, innov8 group and Hacker Kitchen.
It is inviting more firms to sponsor the match and/or future events in 2012, which can contact Nick Burnett at email@example.com for more information.
