GAJ appoints new head of interior design Kevin McLachlan

Kevin McLachlan.

Isabel Pintado, who headed GAJ interior design for seven years, is leaving to join LW Design Dubai.

Pintado will be replaced by Kevin McLachlan who previously worked with LW Design and RMJM. He recently ran his own practice Thinkspace.

“I have always admired the work that GAJ has done and so it’s now great to be working here,” he said.

“It’s really exciting to be coming into a team of 20 talented designers who have between them a great depth of experience. I will look forward to the challenge of what I hope will be a new chapter in the interiors team at GAJ”.

McLachlan has 25 years experience in commercial design, education, hospitality, leisure, food & beverage and retail and 10 years of working within the Middle East.

His client portfolio includes Hyatt, Kempinski, Rotana, Jumeirah, Millennium Copthorne, Radisson and Le Meridien. As well as projects such as The Madinat Jumeirah, Trilogy Nightclub, and ADNEC Capital Gate in Abu Dhabi.

Brian Johnson, managing partner and principal, GAJ, said he is sad to see Isabel leave, however, he feels that the breadth of experience Kevin will bring will help the team evolve.

“I know that all of GAJ will join me in wishing the very best for the future for Isabel whilst welcoming Kevin into the fold,” he added.

GAJ won ‘Interior Design Firm of the Year 2011’ and ‘Interior Designer of the Year 2011’ (Elie Choucair, Associate) at the Commercial Interior Design Awards last year.
