GAJ to design Saudi Sheraton project

Architect firm Godwin Austen Johnson (GAJ) has been appointed by Unaizah Investment Company as lead consultant for the Four Points by Sheraton Unaizah Saudi Arabia.

Located in the Qassim province approximately 350km north west of Riyadh, this is a new build project and will the first hotel of its type in the region.

The Unaizah Investment Company project will be a 130-key desert resort style hotel with 90 hotel rooms and suites, 30 chalets and 10 villas. It will be designed to blend into its natural environment creating what the designers call “a family hideaway surrounded by desert and palm trees”.

GAJ’S work will involve concept design and architecture as well as interior design, specialist lighting and landscape design, kitchen and spa consultancy services.

Historically, Unaizah (pictured) was an important stopping point for Muslim pilgrims coming from Iraq and Iran on their way to Makkah. Today it is being developed as a key tourism destination.  The project is expected to be completed by 2020.
