GAJ celebrates winning Design Firm of the Year 2011

GAJ (formerly, Godwin Austen Johnson) has been named Interior Design Firm of the Year 2011.

In the eyes of our judges, GAJ was chosen for creating “designs which really leap out of the page” and the winning entry set itself apart for its “diversity and breadth”.

“It feels great to win. A real recognition of all the hours and hard work over the years. We have supported the Commercial Interior Design Awards for the past five years. It has been a memorable journey and we are so happy,” said Isabel Pintado, associate partner, GAJ.

The Interior Design Firm of the Year Award is presented to the company that has produced the most impressive body of work in the Middle East over the past 12 months.

Within the Middle East, Brian Johnson and his team at GAJ are best known for the design of the award-winning Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Clubs and they have also received international awards for The Arabian Courtyard, Residence and Spa at the One & Only Royal Mirage Hotel and the Bab al Shams Hotel.

The team is currently working on a series of hotels; Millenium in Muscat, a 4 star hotel at The Wave, Muscat, a series of private villas in Jeddah, Abu Dhabi and Muscat. A golf club house in Scotland, and an apartment in Paris.

It is also completing a series of projects in Sharm El Sheikh for Citystars that range from a 5 star hotel, apartment blocks to a nightclub.

Highly commended in this category was Draw Link Group, for the ‘sheer versatility of projects undertaken’.

The shortlist was Stickman Design, Pringle Brandon, Inoui & Neo Design, N & D Interiors and Bishop Design Associates.
