“Garish” Chongqing tower design causes a stir

A design for a 70-floor scheme in Chongqing, China, has been ridiculed by local media and bloggers.

The 280 metre-high tower on the bank of the Yangtze river is designed to imitate a pair of figures posing in the form of  Chongqing’s second character meaning “celebration.”

The project, to be completed in 2017, was mocked by Chinese news website Shanghaiist which noted its “garish aesthetics” and resemblance to a famous pose in the movie Titanic.
