GHD-designed airport hotel named best in Middle East

For the second year running, the Oryx Rotana – designed by GHD – was recognised as the Best Airport Hotel in the Middle East at the Skytrax 2013 World Airport Awards.

GHD won a competition to design the 400-room hotel, owned by Qatar Airways.

It proposed  two eight-story guest room wings separated by a large glazed atrium incorporating a lobby, lounge, all-day restaurant and pool area.

With its business centre and conference rooms, the hotel provides a short-term home to business people travelling through Doha.

Guests can also enjoy a luxury spa, a choice of restaurants and a jazz bar that looks onto private courtyard gardens.

GHD  provided architecture, interior design, landscape, structural engineering and MEP services to the project, from concept to completion.
