Hadid’s hat raises funds for child protection

Zaha Hadid has designed a piece of headgear to raise funds for non-governmental organisation “Innocence in Danger” which aims to protect children from violence and abuse.

Hadid was one of 41 designers asked to create a hat modelled on the traditional tarbouche to be sold at auction.

Her creation gives a contemporary interpretation to the headgear as the string of its tassel extends into the rim while Arabic influenced geometric patterns also feature.

The auction raised more than $75,000 for the group’s work.
