Henna-inspired tower underway in Mumbai

A henna-inspired tall building, Namaste Tower, is under construction in Mumbai and on course to reach completion by 2015, according to a report in eVolo.

Designed by WS Atkins-designed,  the 300m-tall building is intended to denote the rising economic and cultural importance of India.

Standing at 62 stories, the tower will be one of the tallest in Mumbai, and will include a W Hotel, office space, shops and a rooftop restaurant.

The project will also contact a renewable energy system to produce hot water and passive systems to help reduce energy requirements.

The design resembles the ‘namaste’ greeting gesture: the two wings of the hotel are clasped together like hands.
