Hotel-like healthcare centre paraded by dwp

DWP Malaysia

Design firm dwp is celebrating the opening of the Sime Darby Medical Centre in Ara Damansara, Malaysia, for which it provided interior design services.

The firm sought to generate the feel of a modern wellness and healing destination, with a homely atmosphere, for all of the public areas and ward rooms.

According to the designers, the space is as welcoming and engaging as a top hospitality venue, with no compromise made on the functional requirements of quality, state-of-the-art healthcare.

Fabrics, textures and lighting were chosen to convey a sense of comfort throughout. Some of the standout areas of design include the main reception ceiling and the vast waiting area atrium that plays with light and form.

Many of the materials chosen were sourced locally to reduce impact on the environment and allow costs to remain within budget.

The 38,000m2 medical facility provides a holistic centre for brain, heart, spine and joint healthcare.
