The ‘Sana Building’, an iconic landmark located in Al Karama in Dubai, will be demolished this month, owners Al Shafar Real Estate Company confirmed.
The building was originally called Emirates Centre Building, and nicknamed ‘Sana building’ due to the Sana Fashions store being located on its ground floor. The low rise residential building also contained other commercial outlets including typing centres, a beauty salon and a clinic, as well as F&B outlets.
It will be demolished to make room for a 35-storey twin tower residence with a shopping mall on its ground level.
According to Gulf News, the new towers will both contain residences and will be complete in two years.
The building was built almost 30 years ago, in the late 1980s.
Gulf News reported that residents were asked to vacate the building by December 31, 2016.
