Instagram posts show OMA’s Qatar National Library is nearing completion

Instagram users have captured images of Dutch studio OMA’s Qatar National Library in Doha, ahead of completion.

Although little has been revealed of the design by the architecture practice, it remains one of the most anticipated projects by the firm in the region, alongside the Qatar Foundation Headquarters, located nearby.

The building is 45,000m2 and is divided into three wings, each housing a different type of library.

It will house various heritage material related to Qatar and the wider region. The University and Research Library will contain educational resources while the Metropolitan Public Library will cater to the community.

It will also include a conservation library for the preservation of sensitive documents, a digitisation suite as well as a 120-seat auditorium and libraries dedicated to children and young adults.
