Iranian architect transforms parking lot into cubic commercial centre

Iranian architect Farshad Mehdizadeh has been commissioned to refurbish an existing commercial centre located across a parking lot from the dreamland theme park.

Appointed by the Isfahan Housing Developmen Organisation, the architect used a simple façade to re-design the existing space, creating a more socially and architecturally integrated design that interacts with its surroundings.

Mehdizadeh used the 6X6 structural module of the existing building where the roof places are extruded in cube-like forms, converting the existing parking lot into a plaza that contains cafés, restaurants, galleries and open spaces.

The commercial centre is oriented in all directions due to its tunneled cube structure, framing various views of the surrounding city.
