Japanese architect designs new building for Miami Design District

Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto has designed a mixed-use retail building to become part of Miami’s Design District.

The architect’s plan showcases a façade covered with glass fins, referencing the tropical rainfall during summertime.

Featuring arcades on two levels, these parts will be enveloped by a glazed structure, linking the storefronts with a overdosing on ativan pedestrian courtyard in the southern part of the district.

“We believe the proposal will create an emblematical environment for the areas surrounding Palm Court. The daily experience of our harmonised façade-corridor will enrich the city experience,” said Fujimoto.

Fujimoto’s building is currently under construction and scheduled for completion by 2014.
