Rem Koolhaas’ studio OMA has designed the new Amsterdam headquarters for Dutch denim brand G-Star RAW.
It features a sliding façade, concrete shell and glass core.
Located in Amsterdam’s industrial Zuidoost district, the building emulates the rough-and-ready military-inspired style of the brand’s clothing, using stark materials.
The 140-metre-long structure sits over a large plinth that raises it up to the level of the road. It is wrapped by a dark concrete frame that houses the supporting facilities, while the central section is a row of glass boxes used by the company’s creative departments.
