Lebanese architecture firm’s Venice Biennale project gets nominated for WAF prize

Museum of Civilizations by Lebanese firm GM Architects, currenly exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale, has been nominated for a WAF (World Architecture Festival) award in Singapore, under the future projects competition entry.

The building is half-way between a museum and an archaeological dig as it would cut through layers of rock to expose the different time periods of Beirut’s geological history.

Since its unveiling, it has attracted numerous proposals from potential backers with a creation date set for 2017.

The awards are to be decided by a panel of judges and will be announced at the Marina Sands Resort in Singapore on 1-3 October.
