The winner of LG Electronics’ Conceptualife 2011 kitchen design competition will receive a fully paid one-month internship with Dubai-based design company X-Architects.
The student that secures the top spot of LG Conceptualife 2011 will have the opportunity to work with X-Architects’ team of designers on a research paper analysing the modern living standards and customs of national families in the Gulf States.
Commenting on the internship opportunity, X-Architects founder and executive chairman, Ahmed Al Ali, who is part of the three-person Conceptualife judging panel, said: “There is a trend for national families towards a more independent and modern lifestyle away from family-compounds, whilst holding onto traditional identity.
“This is a significant change in living styles and we are keen to involve the winning intern in the research process to learn more about how this manifests in home and community design.”
Winner of the 2010 Middle East Architect Awards ‘Boutique Architecture Firm of the Year’ and ‘Principal of the Year’, X-Architects has a solid client base, including Al Qudra Holdings, Dubai properties and Zabeel Properties.
Under the theme of ‘Green and Futuristic’, Conceptualife 2011, LG’s regional kitchen design contest is in its second year and will hold its grand finale on 30th May at DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai.
Two design student finalists from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, South Africa, Egypt and Turkey will present their creations to a panel of judges in the hope of winning the internship with X-Architects.
The judges will closely consider all the submissions and choose the top three designs for Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.
Winners will be judged on unique designs, innovative green features for appliances, utilisation of space and appliance integration, environmental friendliness of home appliance material and development practicality.
LG Conceptualife is open to all design students who wish to participate.
