The Interior Design of the Year award for the Office category went to Perkins + Will for its design of the LinkedIn office in Dubai.
The space represents the company’s innovative culture while embracing the local heritage of the UAE, all connected through the concept of journeying.
The design looks at the pivotal points of evolution within the city of Dubai, from the Creek all the way up to Dubai Marina, connected through different areas of the work space.
These subtle references couple with vibrant graphics, creating a space that is both professional and playful.
The judges praised the project for its creativity and well thought-out concept. They said: “The designers faced a tough challenge to merge a strong international brand into a local context,” adding that Perkins + Will successfully delivered a consistent workspace that doesn’t overwhelm with unnecessary gimmicks.
Another judge stated that it is wonderful to see the design firm showcase the talented team behind the project.
“I have to say that the team on the project was great. We had a great process in collaboration with the client. Overall, the project was amazing to work on, from concept right down to the hand-over,” said Valentina Cereda, senior interior designer at Perkins + Will.
Praising the client, Cereda said: “The client was very open to workshops with us, open to meetings. Communication is key in a project so when there is good communication, then the project is always successful.”
She added: “This is definitely a win for the whole team.”
