Foster + Partners is front-runner in the race to design and head up the consultancy team for all 46 stations on the proposed new Jeddah Metro project.
The £7.2bn rail scheme, which includes three new lines, is part of the city’s wider transport programme.
In May, Aecom was appointed by the Jeddah Metro Company on an 18-month contract worth around $23m for pre-programme management consultancy services, including support for the preliminary planning and design work, for various phases of Jeddah’s Public Transport Project.
Local reports claim the scheme, which aims to remove 30% of the city’s traffic from the road, could be completed by 2020 and go into service in 2022. The Foster + Partners conmtact could be worth around $140m
