A “Made in the UAE” brand would be a means of promoting the region’s design excellence, an advisory panel for the 2104 DesignMENA Summit heard.
Architects and interior designers comprised the roundtable which looked at deciding an agenda reflecting current issues across the design and build industry to be debated in December.
The panel said that a stamp saying an object was designed in the region would be a way of highlighting how the industry has progressed in recent years.
Isabel Pintado managing director of LWD Interiors said: “’Made in the UAE’ – not made necessarily by an Emirati, but in the creative community here.”
Pallavi Dean, design director of Pallavi Dean Interiors emphasised the work of Khalid Shafar
She said: “I think he reflects Emirati design – he’s quirky, he’s edgy and yet he’s still rooted in Emirati culture.”
