Mall of Qatar is scheduled to be completed in 18 months, located on the western side of Doha.
“We are building our mall focusing on the country’s future in line with the goals and objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, rather than looking at meeting some of the urgent requirements of its population,” said Shem Krey, deputy managing director, the Mall of Qatar.
“While we are doubly hopeful of completing the mall in 18 months from now, almost at the time from its opening the basic infrastructure of the railway on western side would be ready,” Krey said, adding that by the end of the decade, the Mall of Qatar will be one of the major stops of the Doha Metro.
In addition to meeting requirements for entertainment and recreation, it is also expected to serve the needs of residents of more than 10,000 villas and other expected residential units.
“At present almost close to 50% of the project, spread over 425,000sq m is over and more than 1,200 people are at work round the clock. At the peak, which is expected any time from now, there would be between 2,500 and 3,000 workers at the site,” said Krey.
