Developer Meraas has appointed WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff as lead consultant for the Bulgari Resort and Residences in Dubai.

The Bulgari Resort in Dubai, designed by Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio,  will be the world’s fifth Bulgari Hotels and Resorts property after openings in Milan, Bali, London and Shanghai, and is scheduled to open in 2017.

The development will be built on 158,000 square metres of land on Jumeirah Bay Island and the plans include a 101-room hotel, 20 hotel villas, 15 mansions, 165 apartments and eight penthouses spread across six towers, as well as a 50-berth marina and Bulgari-branded yacht club.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, which employs 1,450 people in the Middle East, is providing a wide range of consultancy services including geotechnical engineering, acoustics, architect of record, building services design, fire and life safety, integrated design management, roads and highways design, security consulting, structures design, transport integrated system, utilities design and vertical transportation.

Project director Mark Farley said: “Being an exclusive and first of its kind development in the Middle East meant that the project required global expertise to deliver a sophisticated design with a unique ambiance and unprecedented levels of comfort, in addition to excitement and glamour.

“We have achieved a few important project milestones already and are well on track for the project delivery in 2017.”

The Bulgari Resort and Residences will be an exclusive island development constructed on reclaimed land off the Jumeira neighbourhood coastline. The island is sculpted in the shape of a titanic seahorse and will be joined to the mainland by a single carriageway bridge.
