Museum devoted to Dubai’s first hospital planned

The history of healthcare in Dubai is to be showcased by a new museum.

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority has announced plans for the Al Maktoum Hospital Museum, which will tell the story of the emirate’s first hospital.

Displays will be based on contributions from the hospital’s very first doctors, healthcare professionals, and patients and a crowdsourcing programme will encourage people to share their stories of the facility.

Situated in Al Wasl District and developed in collaboration with Wasl Properties, Al Maktoum Hospital Museum is part of Dubai Culture’s mandate of building museums to preserve Emirati heritage.

“Built on the power of storytelling, Al Maktoum Hospital Museum is a living testament to the importance of the community’s involvement in preserving and promoting our history and heritage,” said HH Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice chairperson of the board of directors of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.
