A new luxury travel destination opens for business this weekend in the form of the 205-room Ajman Saray .
The venture along The Corniche is by the Starwood Group which is working with the emirate’s tourism board to boost visitors and bring a greater focus to local attractions.
“Ajman is still not a very known destination,” said Michele Frignani, general manager of Ajman Saray.
“But it has pristine beaches, is close to the Sharjah and Dubai airports, and a free zone that is expanding rapidly.”
The top countries for overseas tourists are expected to be Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom, Frignani said, with weekend breaks also set to be a major factor.
The US-based company has 1,517 hotels worldwide, of which 23 are in the UAE.
