Designed by prominent architect Santiago Calatrava, a new bridge known as Sharq Crossing is set to transform Doha’s skyline just in time for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Sharq Crossing will contain three interconnected bridges as well as an elevated park.
The three bridges will span across 10 kilometers of Doha Bay and will ease the city’s traffic conditions by providing a direct path between Doha’s north cultural district, Hamad International Airport and the central business district in West Bay.
Further, Sharq Crossing will be able to support 2,000 vehicles per hour per lane, with additional subsea tunnels to meet the needs of other drivers.
The new recreational park will be reachable by an elevated walkway, which will serve to extend the city’s green spaces.
