Nokia brings back its iconic 8810 banana phone with updated functions

Finnish mobile phone brand Nokia has relaunched its 8810 phone, originally launched in 1996. To keep the nostalgia associated with the model alive, its original curved, bright yellow cover that was often likened to a banana has been kept intact.s

Introduced at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Spain, it will be available to purchase from May 2018. Last year, the company launched its other well known model – 3310.

While much of the hardware design has been retained, including the banana shape, slide to answer call and helicopter-style rotation, the device has been updated via its operating system to allow for app downloads and 4G network coverage.
