OMA designs temporary auditorium at Selfridges

Leading architecture firm OMA will create a temporary auditorium on the basement floor of British department store Selfridges.

Intended for the Festival of Imagination, the ‘Imaginarium’ will be used to host talks, debates and lectures.

The auditorium will include a circular amphitheatre, which will be bordered by a polycarbonate wall, while the other walls will be clad in mirrors.

Completing the design will be the floors painted in Op art-style pattern of black and white strips and columns coloured with green-screen paint.

The amphitheatre will seat over 70 guests, and the auditorium sets to open on January 16.
