Rotterdam-based Ilona Lénárd will be launching her series of Flow carpets as part of the Dutch Creative Industry showcase during Design Days Dubai, taking place on 14 March.
The carpets are recreations of the designers series of acrylic paintings on canvas, which she then reinterpreted as carpet designs.
“I started the Flow series back in 1994, where they formed the genetic base for the Sculpture City project. Since then I have been producing Flow paintings in various formats,” said Lénárd.
“In 2015 I initiated the production of a series of hand tufted carpets, the first edition is the black (with a touch of dark brown) and white (with a touch of sand colour) made by the skilled Belgian artisan Vera Vermeersch. Besides the hand tufted first edition I have developed a machine tufted series of colourful Flow carpets, first to be shown at the Dubai Design Days 2016.”
Ilona Lénárd visual artist from Rotterdam, Netherlands, and this will be her first exhibition in the UAE.
