Perforated brick facade feature of Australian home

Perforated bricks are the main feature of the façade of a  Melbourne house by Australian studio Inglis Architects.

Fairbairn House faces public parks on two sides, so the designers created the perforated bricks to maintain views while providing privacy for the master bedroom situated at the front on the upper floor.

“It was our ambition that the house engaged with its environment and the individual,” said the architects. “A key strategy employed to do this involved layering up the front elevation to the street to create depth as opposed to a flat facade.”
