Porsche Pavilion opens in German theme park

HENN Architects, a German firm, celebrated the opening of the Porsche pavilion located at the Autostadt theme park in Wolfsburg, Germany.

The pavilion offers an exhibition space of 400m2 and a surrounding landscape designed by WES.

The structure has a streamlined design with a curved roof to evoke the flawless finish of the brand’s cars. A 25m cantilever defines its main feature, where the curving roof slopes seamlessly towards the lagoon ahead.

Underneath the stainless steel cantilever – which shelters and directs visitors towards the main entrance – stepped seating circulates the water feature. It also includes two entrances following a ramp into the exhibition space below.

The history of Porsche is displayed in the exhibition hall with full scale originals of the cars as well as 25 miniatures.

620 sheets of stainless steel cladding with welded ribs were prefabricated off-site with the form assembled on-site.
