Qatar developers are now using their own project managers, which has helped to improve building quality, according to the principal of local practice Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB).
Speaking to Middle East Architect, Ibrahim Mohammed Al Jaidah, said: “The private sector has gained momentum in the last three months. Clients have become demanding like the old days.
“They are now employing their own project managers and they are definitely more sophisticated. I think that everything will be great in 2012.”
Al Jaider believes that Qatar will be an “architectural paradise” by the time of the FIFA World Cup.
He added: “By 2022 Doha will be a state of the art city. It will have its own identity, not just a souk aesthetic. A new school of Arab architecture has emerged that is driven by signature architects from around the world.”
