Qatar school project handed to Atkins

Sherborne school

Atkins has won a global competition to design the new Sherborne Qatar School in Doha, organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

The practice saw off five other shortlisted practices including British firms Avanti and Hopkin, Arab Engineering Bureau from Qatar, Canadians Farrow Partnership Architects and Technital S.p.A from Italy.

Sherborne Qatar is a joint venture between Sherborne School in Dorset and General Trading Group Qatar represented by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Thani. It will cater for 1500 pupils – a mixture of Qatari nationals and expatriates – from four to 18 years old.
