RTKL hires two new people for its Middle East office

Lance Josal, president/CEO, RTKL.

RTKL, architecture, urban design and planning practice, has hired a number of regional practice group leaders to oversee its business in the Middle East.

Todd Lundgren, currently senior vice president at the firm’s Dallas office, will become regional practice group leader for the retail, hospitality and residential sectors in Europe and the Middle East; and Jeffrey Davenport, currently senior vice president in RTKL’s Washington, DC office, will become regional practice group leader for healthcare in Europe and the Middle East. Both will relocate to the region in the coming months.

The move is part of a larger strategy to strengthen the firm’s local positions around the world, the regional director structure is new for RTKL, which was acquired by ARCADIS in 2007.

“This geographically based corporate structure represents an important shift for us in terms of becoming a truly global practice,” said Lance Josal, president/CEO, RTKL.

“At a time when over half of our revenue comes from regions beyond the US market, these moves allow us to make key decisions within our core regions more quickly and effectively and are integral to continuing to make RTKL the global frontrunner.”

Coinciding with these appointments is the announcement that Kenneth Christian, who helped open the London office in 1990, will assume the role of managing director there this autumn. He will take over responsibilities from current managing director Alan Morgan, who is retiring.

“Ken has been instrumental in growing our presence in Europe over the past two decades and has been responsible for directing the design of award-winning projects throughout the UK, Europe, and the Middle East,” added Josal.

“In the process, he has built strong relationships with our London-based employees and clients. As managing director, he will have greater scope to influence the ongoing success and growth of the office.”

In addition to the regional appointments in Europe and the Middle East, Jeffrey Gunning and Donald DeBord have been appointed regional practice group leaders in The Americas for commercial and healthcare, respectively; and Richard Yuan has been appointed Asia practice group leader, commercial.

RTKL’s Middle East projects include 360 Mall in Kuwait and Bahrain City Centre.
