The First Solo programme enhances Tashkeel’s ongoing support for emerging and young artists in UAE
Saif Mhaisen presents his debut solo exhibition as part of Tashkeel’s First Solo programme in the Al Fahidi District. As the second edition within the non-profit art centre’s wider programme aimed at supporting emerging artists in the region, this exhibition will take place at, House 10 from 25 January – 21 February.
A responsive display of the artist’s life, First Solo captures the people and spaces that have and continue to populate and influence his experiences. Through a range of mediums including photography, drawing and painting, the exhibition as a whole is a window to Mhaisen’s journey of reflection on selfhood.
Mhaisen graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2014, and developed a passion for painting and drawing during university. A first place winner of the Sheikha Manal Young Artist Award (2012), he has exhibited in Art Dubai, Sikka Art Fair, DUCTAC, Pro Art Gallery, and most recently Warehouse421, where he exhibited as a recent graduate of the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship 2014/15 (SEAF).
The aim of Tashkeel’s First Solo programme is to provide artists with the opportunity of their first solo exhibition. The programme is intended to both support and nurture emergent talent, while providing the freedom within the gallery space to experiment and build experience – from installation through to curation and marketing.
