Architectural practice Sutherland Hussey has revealed these proposals for a new museum and gallery in Shanghai, housing the world’s most comprehensive collection of the works of Chinese artist Chang Dai-chien

The scheme in Luxun Park includes a 200-seat lecture hall, meeting rooms, book shop and café, restoration facilities, storage and archiving space and a Michelin star restaurant.

According to the Edinburgh-based company the scheme’s individual elements are “organised into small pitched roof cellular forms wrapping around courtyards of varying size containing neatly manicured gardens, carp ponds and bamboo forests.”

The client is the son of Dai-chien’s assistant who was bequeathed the collection. Work is expected to start on site in 2014
