Alec, Atkins and WSP are among the firms who have been shortlisted in the most categories for this year’s Construction Week awards, which are set to take place on 10 December at the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in Dubai.
Dubai-based contractor Alec leads the way, with group companies, initiatives, projects and individuals shortlisted in six out of a total of 14 categories – including the contractor of the year category that it has won for the past two years.
Atkins has been shortlisted in five categories, with the firm vying to retain its crown of Consultant of the Year, two of its project managers (winners from our KSA and Oman awards) shortlisted for project manager of the year, Qatar country manager Rod Stewart shortlisted for construction executive, while also picking up nominations in the engineer of the year and the CSR Initiative categories.
WSP, meanwhile, picked up nominations in five categories including consultant of the year, engineer of the year, project manager of the year, and for sustainable initiative and sustainable project.
Other organisations to receive multiple nominations include Arabtec (four), Astad Project Management (four), Omran (four), Carillion (three), Brookfield Multiplex (three) and Arabian MEP (three). The full shortlist for this year’s awards appears on the next page.
The Construction Week Awards are the highlight of a year-long programme that includes regional awards ceremonies in Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. They are also a mainstay of the region’s construction calendar.
