On June 18, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) teamed up with the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) and launched a conference entitled “Light Pollution in the Middle East” in Al Barsha, Dubai.
The programme included Martin Valentine from Abu Dhabi Municipality, Dr. Riad Saraiji from UAE University, Brandan Keely from SLL and Sergio Padula from iGuzzini Middle East as speakers discussing sustainable lighting strategy and light pollution.
Through the conference, SLL and CIBSE aimed to represent the interests of those involved in light and its application and manufacturing.
The seminar looked to promote the benefits of good lighting, especially in the built environment while also providing professional recognition to those in light and lighting. Light Pollution in the Middle East also established good practice in lighting design and engineering in all facets.
Saraiji discussed light pollution and its impact on architectural and urban lighting design, while Padula lit up the crown with information concerning light pollution in the manufacturing process. Over 70 lighting designers, architects and engineers attended the event.
