SPPARC creates new heart for old Tblisi

Planning has been secured for a mixed-use scheme in the Georgian capital of Tblisi, designed by London-based studio SPPARC in collaboration with local architects.

The scheme is located in the heart of the historic city, in the middle of the Botanical Gardens with a wide panoramic view over a 12th century castle, the Presidential Palace, the River Mtkvari and across the city toward the mountains.

Covering 37,000m2, the project follows the narrow sloped street pattern and fragmented scale of the ancient city and includes boutique hotels, a new high-end retail street connecting into the Botanical Gardens, as well as apartments, villas and a cultural quarter for artists with galleries and a museum.
