Dubai-based Studio EM picks up the award for the Interior Boutique Firm of the Year. The studio has been operational in the country, led by couple Emma and Kristian Stinson.
The judges commended the firm for its “incredibly well put together projects”, with a special mention going out to the firm’s work on The Hangout.
Another judge noted that Studio Em’s “portfolio has blossomed in the last few years. Every project is original and shows design thought and engagement with the client brief.”
The judges also added that the interior design firm has created some of Dubai’s most recognisable shops and outlets, and is able to adapt to a variety of styles.
“We are absolutely ecstatic,” said Kristian Stinson, commercial director at Studio EM. “When we saw the shortlist we thought we have a one-in-ten chance of winning and then we saw the opposition and we thought we actually have a one-in-a-thousand chance. But it’s a lovely way for us to be recognised for what we have achieved in five years.”
Emma Stinson, creative director added: “The last five years have been tough but that was also the last couple of years where we felt the company was actually going somewhere. We have an amazing team and this is an award for the whole team. We never thought this was going to happen!”
Stinson continued: “This year has been a real breakout year for us as we have signed a lot of F&B clients. Nicola (team member) has delivered some independent F&B projects, and through these independent projects, larger companies like The Five Guys, Wagamama, approached us with their larger scale projects, and taking on such big brand names for a small studio like ours really elevates your company to another level.”
