Italian architect Paulo Venturella has set out a vision of the future where titling towers supply the energy for cities.
His proposed Flex Tower combines “housing and energy systems for sustainable living.”
It utilises photovoltaics – a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity using semiconductors and employing solar panels.
In order to generate the electricity the panels move to keep in line with the sun – taking the rest of the building with them
“Since photovoltaic panels need a tilted surface oriented to the sun, this typology tilts and rotates itself,” Venturella explained.
