The winners of the international Top Design contest were announced at the Arena Design show, in Poznań, Poland, recently.
The motto of this year’s Arena Design show was sustainable design, a topical theme that was discussed at the event’s lectures and workshops. Visitors were also able to experience it up close in an exhibition of products nominated for the competition finals.
The winners were; Kettal for Rocking Chair designed by Patricia Urquiola; Grohe for the Blue Chilled and Sparkling system; Klafs for the Vitrium sauna; Solaris Bus and Coach for the Tramino tram and Schattdecor for the ‘Paint Splatter’ decor.
The jury was chaired by French designer Francois Azambourg and Polish designer Janusz Kaniewski.
Commenting on Schattdecor‘s ‘Paint Splatter’, the jury said: “’Paint Splatter’ perfectly demonstrates that an industrial item can have the character of a unique product. Devised for use in flooring and taking its inspiration from an artist’s studio, the decor interprets splatters and streaks of paint on a coarse paper surface, underscoring the used and artistic character of the material in consummate fashion.”
