Steel engineering company Waagner Biro has won a $1.7m (AED: 6.2m) contract to build a pedestrian bridge in Dubai.
The firm has signed a deal with Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) to construct a foot bridge in the emirate’s Jumeirah Lakes Towers area with a completion date scheduled for May 2013.
This latest agreement follows on from Waagner securing a slew of bridge building and maintenance contracts in the UAE at the beginning of December.
The firm was awarded deals worth $7.6m (AED: 28m) by the RTA for the maintenace of Al Maktoum Bridge and the Floating Bridge in Dubai over a five year period. The 365 metre-long, six-lane Floating Bridge was built by Waagner in 2007, and was the first of its kind in the emirate.
