The contract was awarded by Aurecon, which was itself selected for The Tower as the engineer and architect of record for the project.

Once completed, the skyscraper will be approximately 100m taller than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, another Emaar project that, at 828m, holds the current world record for tallest manmade structure.

The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour will feature a net of steel cables that attaches to a central reinforced concrete column. At the top of the structure, an oval bud will house several observation decks to offer 360° views of the city.

With an estimated cost of $1bn the 928m-high supertall structure is expected to complete in 2020.
