Qatar training

Construction has started on Lekhwiya Sports Complex in Doha, which will serve as a permanent home for football team Lekhwiya Club and a training site during the 2022 World Cup.

The first phase will be completed by August 2012 and will include a 10,000-spectator football stadium, practice facilities and training fields.

The second phase will include a 12,004m2 75-key hotel, mosque, multi-sport arena and related facilities.

Designed by Perkins Eastman in collaboration with ECG, Pieper Sports Facility Consulting and Site Concepts International, the complex will be constructed by design-build contractor Al Khayyat Contracting & Trading EST.

The project is part of a larger athletic development underway for the 2022 World Cup.
